Met with the DCHS Juniors today.

First of all, thank you to the Juniors at our high school for taking the time to meet with during there lunch.  Let the record reflect, I bribed them with Subway sandwiches and root beer floats.  None the less, they were totally open to hanging out with me.  We did not have a lot of time, so I quickly introduced myself, gave a brief outline of my history at DC and a short description of my new job as Director of Student Life.  I told them the same thing I said last Wednesday night.... "I am building this plane as I'm flying it."  But I also said, I want them, as leaders of our campus next year, to help me build the plane as we fly it.  I opened the conversation up and let them ask questions and I did the best I could to answer those questions.  I was really, really fun.  Two things that stood out to me during our conversation are the following.  One, they are very interested in mentoring the younger students (AMEN TO THAT, I CAN'T WAIT FOR THAT).  Two, they really want a senior lounge at the new building.  So those are the first two challenges we are going to tackle for the seniors.  Please know those are not the only questions they asked, they ask a lot of great questions, some about athletics, some about music and drama and more.  Finally, we all agreed to meet again soon to chat about next steps in making their senior year a great year.  I gave them my word, I will do all that I can to make this upcoming year an awesome capstone to a high school career.

Finally, I ask that you prayer for our next year's seniors as they enter their new role as campus leaders.  I am super excited to be a small part of that journey.
